Ranger Partnerships – Embedding storytelling into caring for Country

Across Australia, First Nations ranger groups are doing powerful work on Country every day. Most of that work goes unseen. BushTV works alongside ranger teams to change that, not by bringing in outside crews, but by building storytelling capability within the team itself. This is not a content project. It’s a long-term partnership.

The TRACKS Framework

Our work is guided by the TRACKS Framework, a practical, on-Country approach to storytelling and communications.

TRACKS embeds storytelling into everyday ranger work, building confidence, strengthening cultural knowledge, and creating a clear voice for organisations.

TRACKS stands for:

T — Tell the Story
Recognise and shape meaningful stories from ranger work

R — Respect Culture
Follow cultural protocols and honour knowledge holders

A — Audio & Visual Skills
Capture strong photos and video using simple tools

C — Capture on Country
Document real work as it happens

K — Knowledge Sharing
Share stories within community and beyond

S — Story Systems
Store, manage and use stories effectively

How we work

BushTV doesn’t come in and “make content”.

We work alongside your team on Country.

  • Short, practical sessions
  • Learning through real ranger work
  • Building confidence over time
  • Identifying storytellers within your team
  • Supporting real outputs as you go

This approach is flexible and shaped around your community, your priorities, and your way of working.

What ranger groups gain

• Turn day-to-day ranger work into powerful stories
• Build real skills in photo, video and storytelling
• Rangers lead the stories, not outside crews
• Create a steady stream of content
• Show impact clearly to community, partners and funders
• Strengthen future funding and program growth
• Capture culture and knowledge the right way
• Build confidence, leadership and pride
• Create a long-term story library your organisation owns
• Walk away with skills and systems, not dependence

A different approach

Most media work is short-term.

A crew comes in, captures something, and leaves.

TRACKS is different.

It builds something that stays.
