TRACKS™

Embedding Storytelling, Media and Communications into Everyday Work

Across Australia, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations are delivering important work every day. Whether it’s caring for Country, supporting health and wellbeing, strengthening culture, educating young people, managing community programs, or building local enterprises, much of that work goes unseen.

TRACKS is BushTV’s practical media, storytelling and communications training framework designed specifically for remote and regional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations.

Rather than relying on outside media crews, TRACKS helps organisations build their own skills, systems and confidence to capture and share their stories in a culturally appropriate way.

Whether you’re an Aboriginal Medical Service, Ranger Group, PBC, Council, Corporation, School, Foundation, Enterprise or Community Organisation, TRACKS helps your team tell the story of the work you’re already doing.

The TRACKS Framework

TRACKS provides a practical pathway for building storytelling, media and communications capability within your organisation.

The framework is designed to fit around everyday work and can be adapted to different programs, teams and community priorities.

TRACKS stands for:

T — Tell the Story

Recognising meaningful stories and understanding what makes them important.

R — Respect Culture

Following cultural protocols, seeking permissions and ensuring stories are shared the right way.

A — Audio & Visual Skills

Learning practical photography, video and interview skills using everyday devices and equipment.

C — Capture in Context

Documenting real work, activities, achievements and community outcomes as they happen.

K — Knowledge Sharing

Using stories to strengthen culture, community connections, learning and organisational impact.

S — Story Systems

Creating simple systems for collecting, storing, managing and sharing stories across the organisation.

How We Work

BushTV doesn’t simply produce content and leave.

We work alongside your organisation to build long-term capability.

Our approach includes:

• Practical, hands-on training sessions

• Learning through real projects and everyday work

• One-on-one mentoring and support

• Building confidence over time

• Identifying storytellers and champions within your team

• Supporting real communications outputs as you learn

• Developing systems that remain with the organisation

Every partnership is tailored to the needs of the organisation, community and workforce.

TRACKS Pathways

TRACKS can be adapted to different organisations, programs and community priorities.

Current pathways include:

TRACKS for Organisations
Building storytelling, media and communications capability within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations.

TRACKS for Rangers

TRACKS Community Connectors
Training and supporting local storytellers to strengthen community connection, cultural knowledge, communication and wellbeing through storytelling.

What Organisations Gain

• Stronger media, storytelling and communications capability

• Practical photography, video and interview skills

• Increased staff confidence and leadership

• A steady flow of authentic content

• Better communication with community, partners and funders

• Stronger annual reports, websites and social media

• Greater visibility and recognition of achievements

• Improved evidence of impact for funding and reporting

• A growing library of stories, photos and video owned by your organisation

• Long-term systems that continue working well beyond the training

More Than Storytelling

TRACKS is also about strengthening organisational capacity.

The stories your team captures can support:

• Annual reports

• Grant applications

• Social media

• Newsletters

• Recruitment campaigns

• Website content

• Community engagement

• Advocacy and public relations

• Strategic communications

When organisations can clearly communicate their impact, opportunities often follow.

A Different Approach

Most media projects are short-term.

A crew arrives, captures content, delivers a video and leaves.

TRACKS is different.

It builds knowledge, confidence and capability within your own organisation.

The goal is simple:

Your team owns the skills.

Your organisation owns the stories.

Your community controls the narrative.
